James Holloways confession and narrative of his involvement in the Rye House Plot.
The Rye House Plot was a plan to assassinate King Charles II and his brother, the future James II. The plan never came to action, as the plot was found out and those involved were sent to their execution or into exile.
This treasonous plot came about because of the opposition to having Charles II on the throne, though the conspirators did not have a specific person in mind to take over the throne, their ultimate goal was to establish a Protestant government.
Holloway was one of the key members of the plot, financing the conspiracy through his career as a goldsmith and planning the assassination attempt.
Collated, complete, signatures A-D2.
