I have here for sale a set of four books entitled THE PARLIAMENTARY GAZETTEER OF ENGLAND AND WALES adapted to the new Poor-Law, Franchise, Municipal and Ecclesiastical Arrangements, and compiled with a Special Reference to the Lines of Railroad and Canal Communication as existing in 1845-6, illustrated by a Series of Maps forming a Complete County-Atlas of England, and by 4 large maps of Wales. With an Appendix containing the Results, in detail, of the Census of 1841. Laid out alphabetically,

Vols I-III have a frontispiece and 11 double page b/w county maps each. Vol IV has no frontispiece (or its missing) 9 double page county maps and 4 fold-out maps of Wales.

Bound in brown blind embossed patterned hardboards with a gilt Royal crest to the centre of the front boards. Gilt lettering and cartouches to the spines. Spines are faded and there is some wear to the board edges. Blue adverts for other publications by the publisher to the endpapers. Scuffs to the spine of Vol I, corners bumped to Vol II, white spots to the front board of Vol III, tear to the base of the spine on Vol IV and the front board is detached from the binding block but still attached to the spine covering and rear board. Pages fairly clean and firm but with some sporadic light foxing. Condition: good. Vol I - 648 pages, Vol II - 616 pages, Vol III - 656 pages, Vol IV - 640 + 80 page census. 27 x 18 cm.
